Our Chapter

The Pomona Valley Chapter of the Piano Technicians Guild is a group of Piano Technicians and enthusiasts dedicated to the proper care and service of pianos. Located in the "Inland Empire" of Southern California, the chapter's primary focus is providing information to members about piano technology. We do this mostly through monthly meetings, annual conventions, conferences and one-on-one sharing of technical skills and knowledge.

The About Us page provides a brief history of our chapter including past chapter luminaries, a "Featured Technician", as well as the current roster of chapter board members. And the Find A Technician page provides a quick and convenient way of locating a chapter member.

We encourage anyone interested in pianos and piano technology to browse this web site. Be sure to check the Piano Technology page for useful information about pianos.

The Guild

The Piano Technicians Guild, the official organization of the Registered Piano Technician, is the world's premiere source of expertise in piano service and technology. Based in Kansas City, KS, the PTG has over 4100 members throughout the United States, Canada and around the world.

The mission of the Piano Technicians Guild is to promote the highest possible standards of piano service by providing members with opportunities for professional development, by recognizing technical competence through examinations and by advancing the interests of its members.

The Piano Technicians Guild (PTG) is a trade association with membership open to anyone with a professional or avocational interest in piano technology. However, the title of Registered Piano Technician must be earned by passing a series of rigorous examinations. PTG members who have not passed the RPT examinations may avail themselves of PTG's extensive educational offerings in preparation for their taking the RPT exams, and may advertise their PTG memberships.

Chapter Meetings

  • Meeting Date: Monday, 8/9/2010
  • Meeting Time: 7:00pm, Board 6:30pm
  • Location: the Piano Warehouse
840 So. Rochester, suite A Ontario, CA 91761
  • Tech Program: In lieu of a regular meeting in July, we invited associates to Ron Kneale's clubhouse to take the written exam. Five RPT's and five associates attended. Roger Domeny passed with an outstanding score. The other associates received good scores and no doubt will pass next time.
In August, Don Bigler has graciously agreed to give the technical meeting presenting tips, tools, and techniques taken from old Journals. Our new members have never seen these and our old members have probably forgotten them.

To get to the Piano Warehouse store - going North or South, exit Jurupa Street from the 15 fwy and head west. Turn right on Rockefeller Avenue. Then turn right on Wanamaker Avenue. Then turn right on Wall Street. Follow Wall street around as it turns left to the front of the 2nd building on the left. Suite "A" is the Piano Warehouse store.
